DonateYourStuff.ca provides free scheduled donation pickup for qualifying board games across the GTA and select surrounding communities. We accept family games, children’s games, card games, strategy games, role-playing games and miniatures.
Games should be clean, organized and reasonably complete, with the boards, cards, pieces, dice, instructions and other important parts kept together.
Submit a pickup request with your location, the approximate number of games or boxes and a general description of what you have. We will review your request and contact you by email about pickup availability.
Board Game Donations We Accept
Board games come in many forms, from simple family games to detailed tabletop sets with cards, tokens, miniatures, books and other pieces. Because each type of game includes different parts, what needs to stay together can vary.
The sections below explain the types of games we accept and the important details to check for each one before adding it to your pickup request.
Why Condition Matters
Board games can only continue to be used when players have the essential pieces, cards, boards, instructions and accessories needed to play.
Game boxes should be checked before donation. Boards should be usable, cards should be reasonably clean and pieces should not be broken, heavily damaged or mixed with unrelated games.
A game may still qualify when a minor non-essential component is missing, but games that cannot be played properly because essential pieces, cards, dice, boards or instructions are missing may be declined.
We reserve the right to decline board games at pickup if they are unusable, heavily damaged, contaminated, substantially incomplete or improperly packed.

Some wear to an older box may be acceptable when the board, cards, pieces and other components remain protected and usable. Tape or secure weakened boxes before packing.
Do not donate games affected by mould, pests, heavy moisture damage or contamination.
New & Surplus Board Games
We also accept qualifying quantities of new, unused or surplus board games from:

Board Game Donations We Cannot Accept
We cannot accept board games or tabletop materials that are unusable, contaminated, substantially incomplete or improperly prepared.
Please do not donate:

- Games that cannot be played because of missing pieces
- Empty game boxes
- Boxes containing pieces from unrelated games
- Heavily torn or unusable game boards

- Wet or damp games
- Games with mould or mildew

Items that do not meet our donation standards may be declined at pickup.
How Many Board Games Are Needed for Pickup?
Our pickup service is intended for board game donations large enough to reasonably justify sending a vehicle to your location.
One board game or a small deck of cards will usually not qualify for pickup on its own.
A donation is more likely to qualify when it includes several boxes of board games, a larger tabletop game collection or board games combined with other household donations.
Larger collections from families, schools, retailers, game clubs, businesses, moving projects, downsizing or estate cleanouts may also qualify.
You do not need to count every individual playing piece or card. Provide your best estimate of the number of complete games, boxes or storage containers.
The overall donation volume, condition, location and current pickup routes will determine whether pickup is available.
How to Prepare Board Games for Donation Pickup
Please prepare all board games, card games and tabletop materials before your scheduled pickup.
Check each game: Open every game box and confirm that the main board, cards, pieces, dice, tiles, instructions and other essential components are present.
Remove unusable games: Separate games that are mouldy, wet, heavily damaged, contaminated or too incomplete to be played.
Clean the contents: Wipe game boards, plastic pieces, tiles, dice and storage containers so they are free from dirt, food residue, sticky surfaces and heavy dust.
Keep everything dry: Make sure games, cards, books and boxes are completely dry before packing.
Secure loose pieces: Place cards, dice, tiles, tokens, pawns, counters and other small components in sealed bags or containers inside the correct game box.
Keep games separate: Do not mix loose components from several unrelated games in one box.
Check card decks: Confirm that card games contain the cards needed to play. Place loose decks inside sealed bags, deck boxes or card holders.
Protect instructions: Keep rulebooks, instruction sheets, reference cards and scoring materials inside the correct box.
Test electronic components: Confirm that electronic timers, buzzers, card readers and other powered accessories turn on and work properly.
Inspect battery compartments: Remove leaking, swollen or corroded batteries. Make sure battery covers are included.
Protect miniatures: Wrap fragile miniatures individually or place them in divided storage cases to prevent breakage.
Secure damaged boxes: Tape weakened corners or place the complete game inside a sealed bag or stronger outer box.
Label games without boxes: Place all components in one sealed container and clearly label it with the game’s name.
Pack games upright or flat: Arrange boxes so they do not crush one another or open during transportation.
Use manageable containers: Pack games in strong boxes or storage bins that can be lifted safely. Use several smaller containers instead of one extremely heavy box.
Label every container: Use clear labels such as Board Games, Card Games, Tabletop Games, Role-Playing Games or Miniatures.
Protect the donation from weather: Store packed games indoors, in a dry garage or in another protected location until pickup.
Separate unusable items: Do not mix damaged, contaminated or substantially incomplete games with the games that are ready for continued use.

How Board Game Pickup Works
Step 1: Submit your pickup request: Complete the online form and provide your location, approximate number of games, boxes or storage containers. Describe the main types of board games included and mention any card collections, role-playing materials, miniatures or additional donation categories.
Step 2: We review your donation: We review your location, estimated donation volume, game types, overall condition, how everything is packed, other accepted items included, available vehicle space and current route availability. We may request photos or additional information by email.
Step 3: Receive email confirmation: Your pickup is only scheduled after you receive confirmation by email. Preferred dates and times submitted through the form are requests and are not automatically secured.
Step 4: Prepare and stage your games: Inspect, organize and pack all approved games in strong, manageable boxes or storage containers. Secure all cards, pieces and accessories and separate everything from items that should not be collected.
Step 5: We collect the approved games: Once your pickup is confirmed, our team collects the approved board game donations. Games that are unusable, contaminated, substantially incomplete, improperly packed or significantly different from what was described may be declined.
