Our Toronto donation pickup service is built for people who have a meaningful amount of reusable items but do not have the time, vehicle or help needed to move everything themselves.
We regularly receive pickup requests from Toronto residents who are clearing out a home, preparing for a move, downsizing, reorganizing a basement or finally dealing with items that have been sitting unused.
Your pickup may include multiple items, bags and boxes from several accepted categories. It does not need to be one specific type of donation.

Donations We Pickup
We pick up clean, reusable donations from homes, condos and apartments across Toronto, including clothing, household goods, books, toys, electronics, small furniture and other everyday items that are still in good condition.
Donations must be clean, complete, working where applicable and ready for another person to use. Items with heavy wear, stains, damage, missing parts or strong odours may be declined.
Our free Toronto donation pickup service is available throughout neighbourhoods such as The Annex, Liberty Village, Leslieville, The Beaches, Leaside, Rosedale, Forest Hill, High Park, Roncesvalles, Parkdale, The Junction and Riverdale.
Accepted donations are reused, distributed or sold through the Thrift Society network, helping keep useful items in circulation instead of sending them to landfill.
Why Condition Matters
We want every donation to truly help someone and not create waste. That’s why we only accept items from Toronto homes and businesses that are in good, clean, usable condition.
- Items must be fully functional, clean, and free of stains, damage, or heavy wear.
- Clothing should be washed and ready to wear.
- Electronics and small appliances must work properly, with no missing parts or cords.
- Household goods should be complete, safe, and ready to use.
We reserve the right to decline items at pickup if they don’t meet these standards. Our goal is simple: make sure every item we collect can be reused, sold as an affordable essential, or used to support Canadian families through the Family Relief Fund, not thrown away.

Baby and toddler items must be clean, complete, fully functional, and free from damage, stains, mould, or missing safety parts. We do not accept car seats, cribs, crib mattresses, high chairs, recalled products, or any item that may present a safety risk.

All electronics must be fully functional and include the cords, chargers, remotes, or accessories needed to use them. Personal information must be removed from computers, tablets, and phones before pickup.

We do not accept firearms, ammunition, explosive devices, or anything requiring a restricted license.

Christmas decorations must be clean, complete and in good usable condition. Artificial trees must include their main sections and stand. We do not accept Christmas lights OR pre-lit artificial trees.

Costumes must be clean and wearable. Decorations must be clean, complete, and in good working condition.

We cannot accept books that are moldy, water-damaged, or missing pages.

Items We Can’t Accept
To keep pickups fast, safe, and focused on reusable goods, we don’t accept:
- Large or heavy furniture (sofas, sectionals, mattresses, wall units)
- Appliances (stoves, fridges, washers, dryers)
- Damaged, broken, or heavily worn items
- Hazardous materials (paint, chemicals, batteries, propane tanks)
- Construction materials or scrap metal
- Items affected by mold, pests, or strong odors
- Car seats, helmets, or recalled children’s items
- Firearms, ammunition, explosives, or any restricted or prohibited weapons

How Toronto Donation Pickup Works
1. Tell Us What You Have
Complete the online request form with your Toronto location, donation details and preferred pickup date.
Photos can be added when they help us confirm the item type, condition or size.
2. We Review Your Request
Our team checks the items, donation volume, location and current route availability.
Submitting the form does not automatically secure your preferred date. We will contact you to confirm whether we can accept the pickup and provide an available pickup window.
3. Prepare the Donations
Place smaller items in securely closed bags or boxes. Keep heavier items manageable and make sure everything is ready before the driver arrives.
4. We Pick Everything Up
Your approved donations should be placed in the agreed ground-level pickup area. You may not need to be home when the items are clearly visible and accessible.

Is donation pickup free in Toronto?
Yes. Pickup is free for qualifying donations within our Toronto service area.
Do you pick up from Toronto condos and apartments?
Yes. We offer donation pickup from Toronto condos and apartment buildings, but all items must be brought to an accessible main-floor location before we arrive. We cannot collect donations from individual units, upper floors or areas that require elevator access.
Do I need to be home?
Not always. Approved items may be left in a visible, protected and accessible ground-level location when arranged in advance.
Can I choose my pickup date?
You can provide a preferred date and time on the request form. This is a request only and does not secure the date. We will contact you with our available pickup times.
Do you take furniture?
We accept certain smaller furniture items that are clean, reusable and manageable for our pickup vehicles. We do not accept many oversized or extremely heavy furniture pieces. Check our accepted-items page or include photos with your request.
Can I donate several different types of items together?
Yes. Mixed donations are welcome and often make the most sense for pickup. You can combine qualifying clothing, books, toys, household items, electronics and other accepted goods.
