Free Donation Pickups for Small Furniture
DonateYourStuff.ca provides free scheduled donation pickup for qualifying small furniture across the GTA and select surrounding communities. We accept dining chairs, small kitchen tables, nightstands, end tables, compact desks, small shelving units and complete bed frames that can be taken apart.
Furniture should be clean, stable, structurally sound and complete. Each item, or each section after disassembly, must be safe for one person to carry, with all required parts and hardware included.
Submit a pickup request with your location, the approximate number of furniture pieces, clear photographs, approximate dimensions and a general description of what you have. Tell us which items can be taken apart. We will review your request and contact you by email about pickup availability.
Furniture Donations We Accept
Small furniture includes tables, chairs, nightstands, shelving, compact desks and bed-frame pieces. Some items can remain assembled, while others need to be taken apart so each section can be safely carried by one person.
The sections below explain the types of small furniture we accept and the important size, condition and completeness details to check before adding each item to your pickup request.
Why Furniture Size Matters
DonateYourStuff.ca uses smaller pickup vehicles and does not provide full-service furniture removal.
An item may be considered too large even if it is not particularly heavy. Long, wide, awkwardly shaped, or otherwise difficult-to-handle furniture may still require two people to move safely.
Furniture is more likely to qualify when:
- One person can safely lift and carry it
- It fits through normal doorways
- It can be safely loaded into a pickup vehicle
- It does not require lifting equipment
- It can be taken apart into manageable sections
- Every section remains safe for one person to carry
- All hardware and required parts are included
- The furniture is ready for continued use
Furniture that requires two people to lift, balance, turn or carry cannot be accepted.
Why Condition Matters
Furniture should be ready to be used again without major repairs.
Every item must be:
- Clean
- Completely dry
- Stable
- Structurally sound
- Free from mould and mildew
- Free from strong smoke, pet or musty odours
- Free from pests
- Free from major stains
- Free from broken or missing parts
- Complete with the required hardware
- Safe to move and use
Normal signs of previous use may be acceptable when the furniture remains presentable and fully functional.
Furniture with structural damage, heavy wear, contamination or missing essential pieces may be declined.
Small Kitchen & Dining Tables
We accept qualifying:
- Small kitchen tables
- Compact dining tables
- Breakfast tables
- Drop-leaf tables
- Small round tables
- Small square tables
- Small rectangular tables
- Table leaves included with a matching table
- Complete small tables with matching chairs
Small kitchen tables can often qualify because their legs or bases can usually be removed. Each table or disassembled section must remain manageable for one person to carry.
Tables must be stable and complete, with no broken legs, loose joints, serious water damage or missing structural hardware.
Large dining tables, oversized tables, heavy solid-wood tables and tables requiring two people to carry cannot be accepted.
Dining Chairs, Office Chairs & Accent Chairs
We accept qualifying:
- Dining chairs
- Kitchen chairs
- Office chairs
- Desk chairs
- Accent chairs
- Small occasional chairs
- Stools
- Small benches
Chairs must be stable, complete and safe to sit on.
Upholstered chairs must be clean and free from stains, tears, pet hair, strong odours, mould, pests and excessive wear.
Office chairs should roll, swivel and adjust properly when those features are part of the chair.
We cannot accept oversized chairs, recliners or seating that requires two people to move.
Nightstands, End Tables & Side Tables
We accept qualifying:
- Nightstands
- Bedside tables
- End tables
- Side tables
- Small coffee tables
- Small console tables
- Small entryway tables
- Nesting-table sets
Tables with drawers or doors must open and close properly.
All handles, shelves and hardware should be included. Drawers and doors should remain secure during pickup.
Glass components must be intact and safely protected.
Large, heavy coffee tables or console tables may not qualify even when they belong to one of these categories.
Headboards, Footboards & Bed Frames
We accept qualifying:
- Headboards
- Footboards
- Metal bed frames
- Wooden bed frames
- Bed rails
- Bed slats
- Centre-support pieces
- Complete headboard and footboard sets
- Complete bed frames that can be taken apart
- Twin, double, queen or king frames when every individual section is manageable for one person
Bed frames should usually be disassembled before pickup.
All rails, slats, brackets, bolts, screws, centre supports and other required hardware must remain with the matching frame.
Place hardware inside a labelled, sealed bag and securely attach the bag to one of the frame pieces.
A larger bed size does not automatically disqualify the frame. What matters is whether it can be separated into sections that one person can safely carry and whether every essential component is included.
Small Shelving & Storage Furniture
We accept qualifying:
- Small shelving units
- Small bookcases
- Compact cube-storage units
- Small freestanding shelves
- Small display shelves
- Lightweight storage furniture
- Small cabinets that one person can safely carry
Shelves should be stable and complete.
Removable shelves, pegs, brackets and other loose pieces should be secured together.
Tall, heavy or unstable shelving cannot be accepted. Furniture that must be attached to a wall for safe use may require additional review.
Small Desks & Work Tables
Qualifying compact desks and work tables may be accepted when one person can safely carry them.
This may include:
- Small writing desks
- Compact computer desks
- Student desks
- Small work tables
- Lightweight desk frames
- Small vanity tables without large mirrors
Desks should be emptied before pickup.
Drawers, keyboard trays, shelves and other moving pieces should be secured. Any removable legs or sections should be labelled and kept together with the required hardware.
Large executive desks, corner desks, heavy office desks, conference tables and furniture requiring two people to move cannot be accepted.
Matching Furniture Sets
Matching small furniture sets may qualify, including:
- A small kitchen table with chairs
- A pair of nightstands
- Matching end tables
- A headboard and footboard set
- A complete disassembled bed frame
- A small desk and chair
- A small table and matching stools
Keep every set together.
Clearly label matching pieces so they do not become separated during pickup and processing.

Furniture that does not match the details or photographs submitted with the request may be declined at pickup.
How Many Furniture Items Are Needed for Pickup?
Our pickup service is intended for furniture donations large enough to reasonably justify sending a vehicle to your location.
One chair, nightstand or small table will usually not qualify for pickup on its own.
A furniture donation is more likely to qualify when it includes:
- Several small furniture pieces
- A small kitchen table with matching chairs
- Several dining or office chairs
- A complete headboard, footboard and bed-frame set
- Multiple nightstands, end tables or side tables
- Several small shelving units
- Furniture from more than one room
- Small furniture combined with other accepted donation categories
- A larger collection from a move, downsizing project or estate
How to Prepare Furniture for Donation Pickup
Please prepare all furniture before your scheduled pickup.
Clean every surface: Wipe down tables, chairs, shelves, frames, desks and other furniture. Remove dirt, dust, grease, food residue, pet hair and sticky substances. Upholstered chairs must be vacuumed and free from stains, tears, strong odours and pests.
Empty all furniture: Remove everything from drawers, shelves, cabinets, storage compartments, desk trays and furniture pockets. Check carefully for personal documents, keys, money, photographs and other belongings.
Check stability and condition: Test every chair, table, shelf and frame. Do not include furniture with broken legs, loose structural joints, damaged supports, major water damage or missing essential pieces.
Measure larger pieces: Measure tables, desks, headboards, footboards, shelving units and bed-frame sections. Include the approximate height, width and depth with your pickup request.
Disassemble furniture when needed: Small kitchen tables and bed frames should be taken apart when disassembly makes each section safer and easier for one person to carry. Remove table legs, bed rails, slats, centre supports and other sections when appropriate. Do not dismantle furniture so completely that it becomes difficult to identify or reassemble.
Keep all hardware together: Place bolts, screws, brackets, pegs, washers and other hardware in a strong, sealed bag. Clearly label the bag and securely attach it to the matching furniture. Do not leave loose hardware inside an open drawer where it may fall out.
Label matching pieces: Clearly identify furniture that belongs together, such as a kitchen table with four chairs, a queen bed frame, a headboard and footboard set, a pair of nightstands, a small desk with a chair or a multi-piece shelving unit.
Secure drawers, doors and shelves: Remove loose shelves when necessary and keep them with the matching furniture. Secure drawers and doors so they do not open while the furniture is being moved. Do not apply tape directly to a finished surface when it may cause damage.
Protect glass and fragile parts: Wrap intact glass shelves, mirrors and other fragile components. Glass must be safely secured and free from cracks, chips or sharp edges.
Move furniture to the agreed pickup location: Furniture must be prepared and moved to the agreed accessible pickup location before collection. We cannot dismantle furniture or remove it from upper floors, basements or difficult interior locations during pickup.
Keep furniture protected from weather: Store furniture indoors, in a dry garage or in another protected location until collection. Furniture left outside must be fully protected from rain, snow, moisture and dirt.

How Furniture Donation Pickup Works
Step 1: Submit your pickup request: Complete the online form and provide your location, the furniture items being donated, the number of pieces and the approximate dimensions of each item. Include clear photographs and explain whether tables, bed frames or other furniture can be taken apart.
Step 2: We review your furniture: We review the furniture type, dimensions, weight, condition, number of pieces, whether each item or section can be safely carried by one person, available vehicle space and current route availability. We may request additional photographs, measurements or information by email.
Step 3: Receive email confirmation: Your pickup is only scheduled after you receive confirmation by email. Preferred dates and times submitted through the form are requests and are not automatically secured.
Step 4: Prepare and stage your furniture: Clean and empty all approved furniture. Disassemble items when required, secure drawers and loose pieces, keep all hardware with the matching furniture and move everything to the agreed accessible pickup location.
Step 5: We collect the approved furniture: Once your pickup is confirmed, our team collects the approved furniture. Items that are too large, too heavy, damaged, improperly prepared or significantly different from the photographs and information provided may be declined.

Can I donate furniture with scratches?
Light cosmetic scratches may be acceptable when the furniture remains clean, stable, presentable and fully functional.
Furniture with deep damage, broken surfaces, water damage, swelling or structural problems cannot be accepted.
Can I donate furniture from a condo or apartment?
Yes, qualifying small furniture may be collected from a condo or apartment.
The furniture must be prepared and moved to an approved accessible pickup location before collection. Include loading, parking or building-access details with your request.
Can you carry furniture out of my basement or upstairs?
