Jewelry & Accessory Donations We Accept

Jewelry donations can range from everyday costume jewelry and watches to vintage pieces, brooches, cufflinks and genuine gold or silver jewelry. Some pieces can be packed together easily, while delicate jewelry, matching sets and fine jewelry should be kept separate so smaller pieces do not become lost or damaged.

The sections below explain the types of jewelry and accessories we accept and the important details to check before adding them to your pickup request.

Why Condition Matters

Jewelry and accessories can often remain useful for many years, but only when the pieces are still in a condition where they can realistically be worn, collected or used again.

Badly broken jewelry, missing pieces and severe damage can make an item difficult or impossible to reuse. Small items can also become unusable when important parts are lost, which is why keeping matching pieces and sets together matters.

Checking jewelry and accessories before donating helps make sure more of what we collect can stay in circulation instead of being discarded after pickup.

Jewelry & Accessories Donations We Cannot Accept

We cannot accept jewelry and accessories that are unsafe, contaminated or badly damaged beyond practical handling.

Please do not donate:

  • Costume jewelry with sharp broken edges
  • Pieces that are badly corroded
  • Jewelry covered in heavy dirt or residue
  • Items affected by mould or mildew
  • Items exposed to pests
  • Items with strong smoke or other heavy odours
  • Badly damaged jewelry boxes
  • Loose sharp pins without protected backs
  • Broken glass accessories with exposed edges
  • Containers mixed with garbage
  • Wet or collapsing boxes
  • Items that have not been prepared for pickup

Fine jewelry, genuine gold, silver and other precious-metal pieces should be identified separately in your request rather than mixed into damaged costume jewelry.

Items that do not meet our donation standards may be declined at pickup.

How Many Jewelry & Accessories Are Needed for a Pickup?

Jewelry and accessories take up very little vehicle space, so smaller jewelry donations are often best combined with other accepted donation categories.

A larger jewelry collection, estate jewelry collection or several organized boxes of jewelry and accessories can be included in a pickup request for review.

You do not need to count every individual piece. Give us your best estimate of the number of pieces, jewelry boxes, pouches or containers and describe the general types of jewelry included.

The overall donation volume, condition, location and current pickup routes will determine whether pickup is available.

How to Prepare Jewelry & Accessories for a Donation Pickup

Please prepare jewelry and accessories before your scheduled pickup.

Pair earrings: Keep matching earrings together whenever possible.

Close clasps: Fasten necklace and bracelet clasps to reduce tangling.

Separate delicate jewelry: Keep fine chains, delicate pieces and fragile jewelry away from heavier items.

Keep sets together: Pack matching necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings and other jewelry sets together.

Protect small pieces: Use jewelry boxes, pouches, small containers or sealed bags so rings, earrings, cufflinks and pins cannot become lost.

Secure pins: Close brooches and protect exposed pin backs.

Keep watch parts together: Pack watches with their bands, extra links and matching parts.

Separate fine jewelry: Keep genuine gold, silver, precious-metal and other fine jewelry separate from costume jewelry.

Protect vintage pieces: Use small boxes or protective wrapping for delicate vintage and antique jewelry.

Label containers: Use simple labels such as Costume Jewelry, Watches, Vintage Jewelry, Fine Jewelry or Accessories.

Remove personal items: Check jewelry boxes and organizers for photographs, paperwork, money and other personal belongings.

Use manageable containers: Pack jewelry inside secure containers that can be handled without spilling small pieces.

For complete instructions, review our how to prepare your donations page before pickup.
