How Many Baby Items Are Needed for Pickup?
Our pickup service is intended for baby item donations large enough to reasonably justify sending a vehicle to your location.
A few pieces of baby clothing, one diaper bag or a single small baby toy will usually not qualify for pickup on its own.
A donation is more likely to qualify when it includes several bags or boxes of baby supplies, multiple larger pieces of approved baby gear, a nursery cleanout or baby items combined with other accepted donation categories.
Larger collections from families, retailers, childcare providers, businesses, moving projects, downsizing or estate cleanouts may also qualify.
You do not need to count every individual baby item. The overall donation volume, condition, location and current pickup routes will determine whether pickup is available.
How to Prepare Baby Items for Donation Pickup
Please prepare all baby and toddler items before your scheduled pickup.
Check for recalls: Confirm that strollers, gates, playpens, carriers, activity centres, bouncers, swings, toys and other baby gear have not been recalled.
Inspect every safety component: Check straps, harnesses, buckles, brakes, wheels, locks, latches, rails, clips, fasteners and mounting hardware. Remove any item with a missing or damaged safety component.
Clean hard surfaces: Wipe strollers, gates, playpens, activity centres, bouncers, swings, toys and plastic feeding supplies so they are free from dirt, food residue, sticky surfaces and heavy dust.
Wash removable fabric: Wash stroller covers, carrier fabric, bouncer covers, baby clothing, blankets and washable nursery textiles according to their care instructions. Everything must be completely dry before packing.
Empty diaper bags: Check every pocket and remove medication, food, identification, money, keys, personal records and used hygiene products.
Keep hardware together: Place gate brackets, play-yard accessories, stroller parts and other small hardware in a sealed and clearly labelled bag.
Include safety straps and restraints: Make sure strollers, carriers, bouncers, swings and activity centres include every required strap, buckle and restraint.
Test folding and locking mechanisms: Open, close and lock strollers, playpens, gates and portable baby gear to confirm that each mechanism works properly.
Test electronic features: Confirm that electronic swings, bouncers, activity centres and baby toys turn on and operate normally.
Inspect batteries and compartments: Remove leaking, swollen or corroded batteries. Check battery compartments for damage and include battery covers.
Include required accessories: Pack compatible power cords, adapters, trays, covers, remotes, instructions and other required pieces with the correct item.
Remove personal information: Check diaper bags, keepsake boxes, electronic toys and connected devices for names, documents, photographs and stored personal information.
Group clothing by type: Pack newborn, infant and toddler clothing together. Pair shoes and keep seasonal items organized whenever possible.
Pack smaller items securely: Place feeding supplies, baby toys, clothing, shoes and nursery accessories in strong, manageable boxes or bags.
Protect delicate nursery décor: Wrap picture frames, lamps and breakable decorative items before packing them.
Do not overpack containers: Use several manageable boxes or bags instead of one oversized or extremely heavy container.
Label every container: Use clear labels such as Baby Clothing, Baby Toys, Feeding Supplies, Diaper Bags, Baby Blankets, Nursery Items or Stroller Accessories.
Keep everything dry: Store prepared baby items indoors, in a dry garage or in another protected location until pickup.
Separate prohibited items: Do not place car seats, cribs, crib mattresses, high chairs, recalled products or unsafe baby equipment with the approved donation.
For complete instructions, review our how to prepare your donations page before pickup.
How Baby Item Donation Pickup Works
Step 1: Submit your pickup request: Complete the online form and provide your location, approximate number of boxes, bags and larger baby items. Describe the main types of baby gear included and mention any strollers, gates, playpens, swings, bouncers or additional donation categories.
Step 2: We review your donation: We review your location, estimated donation volume, types of baby items, overall condition, safety, how everything is packed, available vehicle space and current route availability. We may request photos or additional information by email.
Step 3: Receive email confirmation: Your pickup is only scheduled after you receive confirmation by email. Preferred dates and times submitted through the form are requests and are not automatically secured.
Step 4: Prepare and stage your baby items: Clean, inspect, organize and pack all approved baby supplies. Place larger approved baby gear in the agreed pickup location and separate everything from prohibited items.
Step 5: We collect the approved donation: Once your pickup is confirmed, our team collects the approved baby items. Products that are recalled, unsafe, damaged, contaminated, incomplete, improperly packed or significantly different from what was described may be declined.
