Free Donation Pickups for Household Items & Small Furniture
DonateYourStuff.ca provides free scheduled donation pickup for qualifying household items across the GTA and select surrounding communities. We accept lamps, mirrors, wall art, home décor, curtains, linens, area rugs, storage baskets and bins.
Household items should be clean, complete, safe and in good condition. Lamps, clocks and other electrical items should work properly, while sets should include their matching parts and hardware.
Submit a pickup request with your location, the approximate number of items, bags or boxes and a general description of what you have. We will review your request and contact you by email about pickup availability.

Household Item Donations We Accept
Household donations can include home décor, lighting, mirrors, artwork, window coverings, linens, rugs and storage items. The details to check depend on what you have. Electrical items need to work, breakable items need to be intact and sets should have their matching pieces.
The sections below explain the household items we accept and what to check before adding them to your pickup request.
Why Condition Matters
We want every household donation to be useful to someone else, not become waste that needs to be disposed of. That is why we only accept household items and small furniture that are clean, complete, safe, and in good usable condition.
Items should be ready to use, with no broken parts, heavy wear, stains, mould, strong odours, or missing pieces. Lamps and other electrical items must also be in working condition.
We reserve the right to decline items at pickup if they do not meet these standards. Our goal is to make sure everything we collect can be reused in another home

Household Items Donation Condition Requirements
Every household donation must be clean, dry, complete, safe, and ready to be reused.
Before requesting a pickup, make sure your household items are:
• Clean and free from dirt, grease, dust, and pet hair
• Completely dry
• Free from stains, mould, mildew, and strong odours
• Free from cracks, broken glass, major scratches, or serious damage
• Complete, with all important parts and hardware included
• Stable and safe to use
• Working properly if electrical
• Packed or secured safely when needed
• Protected from rain, snow, and outdoor exposure
• Suitable for use in another home
Lamps, clocks, and light fixtures must be working and have no damaged cords, plugs, or missing parts.
Mirrors, artwork, picture frames, and décor must have no broken glass or badly damaged frames.
Curtains, table linens, rugs, and other fabric items must be freshly cleaned, completely dry, and free from stains, tears, pet hair, mould, mildew, and strong odours.
Small furniture must be sturdy, complete, and free from broken legs, loose parts, or structural damage.
Why Household Item Condition Matters
Our goal is to collect household items that can be reused, not items that must be discarded.
Dirty, damaged, incomplete, or unsafe items create additional handling and disposal costs and take up vehicle space that could be used for donations that are genuinely ready for another home.
Taking a few minutes to inspect, clean, and prepare your household items helps prevent declined donations and ensures more of what we collect can be given a second life.
How Many Items are Needed for Pickup?
Our pickup service is intended for donations that reasonably justify sending a vehicle to your location.
One lamp, chair, storage basket, or other small household item may not be enough on its own. Multiple household items or small furniture pieces are more likely to qualify, especially when combined with other accepted donation categories.
When completing the pickup form, provide your best estimate of:
• The number of small furniture pieces
• The number of lamps and light fixtures
• The number of mirrors, artwork, clocks, and décor items
• The number of bags or boxes containing curtains, linens, or other textiles
• The number and approximate size of any area rugs
• The number of storage baskets or bins
• Any other eligible donation categories included
We will review the total size, quantity, item condition, and available vehicle space before confirming a pickup.
How to Prepare for Your Donation Pickup
Please prepare your household items before your scheduled pickup.
Clean Every Item
Wipe down furniture, lamps, mirrors, clocks, storage items, décor, and other household goods. Curtains, table linens, rugs, and other fabric items should be freshly cleaned and completely dry.
Check the Condition
Remove anything that is broken, cracked, heavily stained, mouldy, incomplete, unstable, or no longer suitable for reuse.
Test Electrical Items
Make sure lamps, light fixtures, clocks, and other electrical items are working properly. Do not include items with damaged cords, plugs, switches, or missing parts.
Keep Parts Together
Secure shelves, hardware, cords, lampshades, and other loose or matching pieces together so they do not become separated during collection.
Protect Glass and Breakable Items
Wrap mirrors, framed artwork, clocks, lamps, and other fragile items carefully. Do not place loose or broken glass inside bags or boxes.
Fold and Pack Linens
Fold curtains, tablecloths, placemats, runners, and other linens neatly. Place them in strong, securely closed bags or boxes.
Roll and Secure Area Rugs
Roll rugs tightly and secure them so they remain clean and manageable during pickup.
Separate Unusable Items
Do not mix damaged, dirty, incomplete, or unsafe items with eligible household donations.
Keep Everything Protected
Store donations indoors, in a garage, or in another clean and dry location until pickup. If items are left outside, they must be fully protected from rain, snow, moisture, and other weather conditions.
For complete instructions, review our how to prepare your donations page before pickup.

We may contact you by email if more information or photos are needed.

No. Donations must be moved to an accessible ground-level pickup location before the scheduled collection.

Yes. Household goods and small furniture must be clean, dry, safe, complete, and ready to use.
