Free Donation Pickups for Movies, TV Series & DVD Collections
DonateYourStuff.ca provides free scheduled donation pickup for qualifying DVDs across the GTA and select surrounding communities. We accept movies, television series, documentaries, concerts, children’s programs, educational DVDs and box sets.
DVDs should be clean and playable, with each disc stored in a case or protective sleeve. Keep television seasons, box sets and multi-disc releases together with their matching packaging whenever possible.
Submit a pickup request with your location, the approximate number of DVDs or boxes and a general description of what you have. We will review your request and contact you by email about pickup availability.
DVD Donations We Accept
DVD donations can include individual movies, complete television seasons, documentaries, concerts and multi-disc collections. Some releases contain one disc, while box sets and collector editions may also include booklets, slipcovers or outer packaging that should stay together.
The sections below explain the types of DVDs we accept and the important details to check for each one before adding them to your pickup request.
Why Condition Matters
DVDs can only be reused when the discs are clean and playable.
Discs should be free from cracks, deep scratches, warping, peeling layers and other serious damage that may prevent normal use.
Cases may show ordinary shelf wear as long as they continue to protect and identify the correct disc. Light surface marks may be acceptable when the DVD remains playable.
We reserve the right to decline DVDs at pickup if they are seriously damaged, contaminated, unidentifiable or improperly packed.

Different languages, packaging styles and release countries do not prevent a DVD from qualifying.
DVDs Without Their Original Cases
Loose DVDs may qualify when they are:
- Clearly identified
- Individually protected
- Organized in disc sleeves or wallets
- Free from serious damage
- Packed so the playing surfaces cannot rub together
- Included as part of a larger qualifying collection
Do not stack loose, unprotected discs together.

Booklets, Inserts & Packaging
Keep the following with the matching DVD whenever available:

- Back cover artwork

- Liner notes
- Posters
- Slipcovers

- Collector packaging
Missing inserts do not automatically disqualify a DVD, but complete packaging helps protect and identify the collection.
Former Rental DVDs
We may accept former rental DVDs from stores such as Blockbuster or Rogers Video when the disc remains playable and properly protected.
Rental stickers, security labels and store markings do not automatically disqualify a DVD.
The correct disc should be inside the case, and the case should still protect it.
DVD Donations We Cannot Accept
We cannot accept DVDs that are unsafe, unusable, heavily contaminated, unidentifiable or improperly prepared.
Please do not donate:
- Cracked or broken discs
- Warped discs
- Discs with deep scratches that prevent normal use
- Discs with peeling, bubbling or damaged data layers
- DVDs affected by mould or serious moisture damage
- Discs with sticky residue, paint, grease or chemicals
- Homemade or burned DVDs
- Recordable DVD-R, DVD+R or rewritable discs with unknown content
- Computer backup discs
- Personal data discs
- Software installation discs
- Blank recordable DVDs
- Empty DVD cases with no discs
- Large quantities of loose, unidentified discs
- Loose discs packed without protective sleeves
- Boxes containing shattered cases or sharp plastic
- Wet, damaged or collapsing boxes
- DVDs left loose or exposed to weather
- Items that have not been prepared for pickup
Items that do not meet our donation standards may be declined at pickup.
How Many DVDs Are Needed for Pickup?
Our pickup service is intended for donations that reasonably justify sending a vehicle to your location.
One or two DVDs will usually not be enough on their own. Several boxes, a larger DVD collection or a mixed donation containing DVDs and other accepted items is more likely to qualify.
When completing the pickup form, provide your best estimate of:
- The approximate number of DVDs
- The number of boxes or storage containers
- Whether the DVDs are in individual cases
- The number of loose DVDs in protective sleeves or wallets
- The number of box sets
- The number of television seasons or complete series
- Whether other accepted donation categories are included
For larger collections, an exact count is not required.
You may describe the donation by the number of boxes, shelves, cabinets, storage bins or DVD racks.
Do not overpack boxes. DVDs and cases become heavy when packed in large quantities, and every box must remain manageable to lift.
We will review the total quantity, packing method, overall condition, available vehicle space and route availability before confirming a pickup.
How to Prepare DVDs for Donation Pickup
Please prepare your DVDs before your scheduled pickup.
Inspect the discs: Check the playing surface of each DVD when practical. Remove discs that are cracked, badly warped, peeling, heavily contaminated or deeply scratched. Light surface marks may be acceptable when the disc remains playable.
Match DVDs with their cases: Place each DVD in its matching case, sleeve or box-set package whenever possible. Make sure the correct disc is inside the correct case.
Keep television seasons together: Keep every disc from the same television season or complete series together. Do not separate discs from their matching cases or packaging.
Keep box sets together: Keep movie collections, franchise sets, director collections and other multi-disc packages together. Include all available booklets, inserts, slipcovers and outer boxes.
Protect loose discs: Place loose DVDs in individual protective sleeves, labelled envelopes or organized disc wallets. Do not stack unprotected discs together.
Replace unsafe cases: A lightly cracked or scuffed DVD case may still be usable. Remove or replace cases that are shattered, have sharp edges or no longer hold the disc securely. Do not place broken plastic inside donation boxes.
Organize the collection: When possible, group DVDs by movies, television series, documentaries, children’s programs, box sets or loose discs. The collection does not need to be alphabetized.
Use strong boxes: Pack DVDs upright in sturdy cardboard or plastic boxes with secure bottoms. Use manageable boxes instead of oversized containers.
Do not overpack: Each box must remain safe for one person to lift. Use additional smaller boxes if a box becomes too heavy or begins to bend.
Fill empty space: Use clean packing paper or cardboard dividers to prevent cases from shifting during transportation. Do not use wet or dirty packing materials.
Label every box: Use simple descriptions such as Movies, Television Series, Children’s DVDs, Documentaries, Box Sets or Loose DVDs in Sleeves. Include an approximate quantity when possible.
Keep DVDs dry: Store packed DVDs indoors, in a dry garage or in another protected location until pickup. Do not leave DVDs exposed to rain, snow, damp ground or outdoor moisture.
Separate unusable discs: Do not mix cracked, contaminated or badly damaged discs with the reusable DVDs.

How DVD Donation Pickup Works
Step 1: Submit your pickup request: Complete the online form and provide your location, approximate number of DVDs, number of boxes and any important access information. Mention any large collections, television series, box sets, loose discs or additional donation categories.
Step 2: We review your donation: We review your service location, approximate DVD quantity, number and size of boxes, how the collection is packed, overall condition, other accepted items included, available vehicle space and current route availability. We may contact you by email if more information or photos are needed.
Step 3: Receive email confirmation: Your pickup is only scheduled after you receive confirmation by email. Preferred dates and times submitted through the form are requests and are not automatically secured.
Step 4: Prepare and stage your DVDs: Inspect, organize and pack the DVDs in strong, manageable boxes. Move all approved donations to the agreed pickup location and make sure the boxes are visible and clearly separated from anything that should not be collected.
Step 5: We collect the approved DVDs: Once your pickup is confirmed, our team will collect the approved DVDs. Items that are seriously damaged, contaminated, improperly packed or significantly different from what was described may be declined.

Have several boxes or a larger DVD collection ready to donate?
Submit a pickup request with your location, approximate number of DVDs, number of boxes and a general description of the collection.
Tell us if the donation includes television series, box sets, loose discs or other accepted items.
We will review your request and contact you by email regarding availability.
Once approved, pack the DVDs securely and prepare the boxes for collection. We handle the pickup so you do not have to transport the collection to a donation centre.

Is DVD donation pickup free?
There is no charge for an approved pickup.
Requests are subject to location, route availability, donation volume, packaging and overall condition.
What types of DVDs do you accept?
We accept qualifying movies, television series, documentaries, concerts, children’s programs, educational programs, fitness DVDs, sports programs, box sets and other prerecorded DVDs. We can take just about any genre of movies.
Do you accept movie collections?
Yes.
We accept qualifying individual movies and larger movie collections covering a wide range of genres.
Do you accept television series on DVD?
Yes.
We accept individual seasons, complete series, mini-series and television box sets.
Keep every disc from the same season or series together whenever possible.
Do you accept documentaries and special-interest DVDs?

Do you accept former rental DVDs?
Yes, when the disc remains playable and the case continues to protect it.
Rental stickers and store markings do not automatically prevent a DVD from being accepted.
Do you accept scratched DVDs?
Light surface marks may be acceptable when the DVD remains playable.

Do DVDs need their original cases?
Original cases and artwork are preferred, but replacement packaging may be acceptable.

Do you accept loose DVDs?
Loose DVDs may qualify when they are clearly identified, individually protected and included as part of a larger donation.

Do you accept DVDs with damaged cases?

Do you accept incomplete box sets?
Possibly.
Keep all available discs and packaging together and mention any missing discs or important materials in your pickup request.
Do you accept burned or copied DVDs?
No.
We do not accept homemade, burned, copied or recordable DVDs with unknown content.
Do you accept blank DVDs?
No.
We do not accept blank recordable DVDs.
Do you accept empty DVD cases?
Empty cases alone do not qualify as a DVD donation.
Clean replacement cases may be included with a larger qualifying DVD collection.
How many DVDs do I need for pickup?
One or two DVDs will usually not be enough on their own.

Not always.
Once your pickup has been confirmed, you may be able to leave the boxes in an agreed, visible pickup location.
Everything must be clearly identified and fully protected from weather.
Can you carry DVD boxes out of my basement or upstairs?
No.
DVDs and other donations must be packed and moved to an accessible ground-level pickup location before the scheduled collection.
Does submitting the form confirm my pickup?
No.
The form submits a pickup request only. Your pickup is confirmed after the details have been reviewed and scheduling confirmation has been sent by email.
